Installing GeoMapApp© on a UNIX/Linux System

Minimum Requirements:

  • Sun or IBM Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5.x or newer, (also called Java 5, Java 6) which may be downloaded from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/

    NOTE: The default GNU Java compiler installed on some Linux platforms does not include all the libraries needed by GeoMapApp. Install as above.

  • 1 MB of free disk space.
  • 64 MB of RAM (128 MB or more is recommended for best performance).
  • Network connection to access data on remote servers.

GeoMapApp is a Java application and it must be downloaded to your computer. Clicking on the AGREE button below downloads the file GeoMapApp.jar to your computer. To start the program, type the following in a command window:

% cd <directory with GeoMapApp.jar>
% java -jar GeoMapApp.jar
