Web Map Services - WMS
What is this?
WMS allows the user to display remote map images in GeoMapApp. (Read more.)
How do you use it?
From the File menu, select WMS.
The Connect to WMS window opens. Click on the Servers menu dropdown pointer. Select a server; press Connect.
The window expands. Select a map from the left column; its description appears in the right column.
Choose a map and press Load Layer. The map loads into the GeoMapApp main map window. For convenience of access, you may Bookmark Layers to make them appear in the dropdown layer menu. The map shown in this example has worldwide boundaries but data only in certain areas, hence all of the GeoMapApp topography is hidden.
Another example, showing a map of smaller extent. Where a map is loaded, the GeoMapApp topography/bathymetry cannot be seen. The view in the main map window may be saved at any time.
Click Dispose in the Connect to WMS window to remove the map from the view.
